Mike Song

As a child, growing up in Torrance, California, Mike Song was inspired to dance by the likes of American artists such as Michael Jackson and Usher as well as Korean Pop artists such as HOT and Yoo Seung Jun. At first, Mike began performing at high school talent shows and pep rallys. However, when he entered UC irvine in 2004 as an economics major, he joined Kaba Modern, which changed his life. In a few short years, he became director of Kaba Modern. During his year as director in 2007, Kaba Modern won 1st Place in the USA at the Hip Hop International Championships, and 2ndPlace in the World. Mike went on to represent the team in the first season of MTV's America's Best Dance Crew. Since then, he has traveled extensively (both domestically and internationally), to perform and teach. He has also judged and battled at various dance events. In 2007, Mike won 1st place at the Annual "In the Spotlight" Battle in Southern California and he won the 2010 Urban Street Jam All Stylz 2-on-2 battle with Victor Kim from Quest Crew. In 2009, Mike judged several hip hop competitions such as World of Dance in San Mateo, Seaquence in Seattle, The Beatdown in Toronto, Body Rock in San Diego, the National Hip Hop Championships in South Africa, and the National Hip Hop Championships in Mexico. As an instructor, Mike has taught workshops in Australia, South Africa, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Finland, Croatia, Holland, Canada, Mexico, Guam, Hawaii, and continues to travel and teach around the world. He was also recently a featured choreographer for the London production, Blaze. Mike is represented by Clear Talent Group and is also the current Artistic Director for Kaba Modern Legacy and Kallusive Dance, the co-founder/co-director of both Anbu Black Ops and Yo Mama Crew, and is an alumni company dancer/choreographer for Culture Shock Los Angeles.

He ultimately hopes to inspire others to dance and promote positivity. To that end, Mike has been a guest speaker at the annual KASCON nationwide student conference and participated in KCCD's STFU Youth Summit as a guest performer.
