Mikey Andaya
Mikey Andaya (Michael Constantine Andaya) was born in Vancouver BC, Canada, and was raised in Toronto until he moved to Orange County, California at the age of 9. His dancing started during his junior year in high school after taking up an interest in breaking. After a couple of months bboying, he joined his high school's hip hop dance club, Dance Appreciation, lead by J.P. San Pedro, and got his first taste of hip hop choreography. After high school, Mikey joined his first competitive hip hop team, Co.Mega, and remained there for 2 years strengthening his technique for choreography. In 2002, Mikey joined Kaba Modern, and remained on the team for 4 years as a dancer and choreographer. During this time, he also developed a new found skill for mixing music, and became the official producer for all mixes during his stay on the team. After leaving Kaba Modern, Mikey joined Culture Shock Los Angeles, as well as Kaba Modern Legacy, and for the next 4 years, contributed choreography, music, and video production to both dance companies. He eventually worked his way up to becoming Culture Shock Los Angeles' Asst. Director of Commercial Choreography, and Kaba Modern Legacy's Media Director, where he continues that role with KM Legacy today.
Some of Mikey's credits include music video for Hypnogaja's "Dark Star", BBA Talent Agency, half-time show for a Lakers playoff game, TV Show "Ji Lang Jing U Min" in China, backup dancer for R&B group Devotion, GMA TV Show "Pinoy Dance Showdown", Best In Show at 2008 USA Battle of the Year, and 2nd Place in the 2005 Hip Hop International USA Championships. Mikey has had the honor to perform all throughout California including Six Flags and Knotts Berry Farm, and across the U.S. including Las Vegas, Atlanta, Boston, Arizona, Florida, New York, Missouri, New Jersey, and eventually internationally in Beijing, China. He has also branched out to many other dance projects and groups, including Anbu Black Ops, Placebo Effects bboy crew, Groove Movement, Floorteenth, Movement Project, and Freedom Junkies, all while maintaining a steady profession as a Web Applications Developer. In his free time, he enjoys playing piano, editing film, and hanging out with friends.
